e House recently re-launched their website on Drupal! This is a huge milestone for Drupal, and for the open source movement in general. Dries Buytaert, the founder of Drupal, blogs about it here.
Some key points:
- Content Management allows for many many users to post content for many departments and all have customized access. This is a great way to demonstrate an open and transparent government.
- Drupal is expensive to implement, easy to maintain and does require costly licenses. Since it’s open source, it’s virtually free.
- Since Drupal is meant to use along with social oriented and connect communities, it as great way to facilitate open communication.
- As time goes on it will be easy to add new media particularly videos as well as remodel the website with a new design while keeping all of this existing content.
Congratulations to the Drupal User and Developer Community!
