This week one of our website design and website maintenance client, had an identity issue on another website. Here’s the situation, they are in a highly regulated industry (Reverse Mortgages) and reputation is everything! A nefarious directory website, lists every single reverse mortgage company they can find on their website. Then when someone googles a reputable reverse mortgage company, like my client, this nefarious directory website comes up. Once visitors are on this directory website, there is a form the visitor submits their information, in order
The client is presueing legal channels. In our research to help them, we found the below website service:
For $15/month they will monitor the web (probably through Google.com searches), for where your name and/or company comes up and appears on the web. Then they will correct narfious reputation. We thought this service could be worth it’s weight in gold. Once a problem arises, it takes so much money and time to resolve. This seems like an excellent preventative and pro-active solution.

Google Alerts can be another solution - plus it’s free!
Unlike Google, this service fixes the problem for you beyond alerts. I think I would recommend both for name/brand preservation and website protection.
