Next month marks the 8th year anniversary of my mother’s passing, only to be followed by my father’s four months later. I vividly recall what it was like to lose both parents in less than four months.
However, time did heal wounds especially when it came time to move from San Francisco to Oakland after getting married. My wife and I were going through my family possessions and there were many photographs of people I did not recognize. Fortunately, my father’s sister helped me connect with my past to fill in our families’ migration stories from Mexico to the USA two generations ago.
